What is this series about?
Trauma isn’t just about the big, obvious events—it can also come from the experiences that shaped us in ways we didn’t even realize. This 8-week live series is designed to help you understand trauma, how it affects the brain and body, and how it might still be showing up in your life today.
Each session will be a mix of education, reflection, and Q&A, giving you the space to explore at your own pace. Whether you’re just starting to unpack your experiences or looking for a deeper understanding, this series will support you in making sense of your story and moving forward in a way that feels right for you.
Here’s the lineup of events:
Please note all dates are Wednesdays 6-8pm via ZOOM
Week one - 7th May: What is Trauma?
When we think of trauma, we often picture big events like abuse or accidents, but trauma is much more nuanced than that. Many experiences we might not recognize as trauma can still have a lasting impact.
In this session, we’ll explore the different types of trauma, including PTSD, CPTSD, and ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences), to help you understand your own experiences and how they may have shaped you. This will be a foundational session to set the stage for the rest of the series.
Week two - 14th May: Attachment Styles
You may have heard terms like anxious attachment before—or maybe not, and that’s okay! Understanding attachment styles can give us insight into how we connect with others, how we respond to relationships, and how early experiences shape our patterns of connection.
In this session, we’ll explore the different attachment styles, how they develop, and how they might be showing up in your life today. This awareness can be a powerful step toward healing and creating healthier relationships.
Week three - 21st May: Dysfunctional Families & The Inner Child
The way we grow up shapes how we see ourselves and the world. In dysfunctional family dynamics, we often take on specific roles—maybe you were the caretaker, the peacemaker, or the invisible one. These roles help us survive but can also carry into adulthood in ways we may not even realize.
We’ll also explore the concept of the inner child—the younger version of you who still holds unmet needs, fears, and emotions. Understanding these patterns can help us break free from old cycles, develop self-compassion, and learn how to care for ourselves in ways we may not have received growing up.
Week four - 28th May: Parts of you
Recognizing that you are made up of many different parts can be incredibly freeing. Instead of saying “I am angry,” we can learn to say “A part of me is angry.” This shift in perspective allows us to better understand our emotions, make peace with them, and respond with more self-compassion.
In this session, we’ll explore the concept of parts work and introduce Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic approach that helps us connect with and support different parts of ourselves.
WEEK BREAK - (reflect, process and catch up)
Week five - 11th June: How memory works & EMDR
Why do certain past experiences feel stuck in our minds? How does memory actually work, and can we process painful experiences later in life?
In this session, we’ll explore how the brain stores and processes memories, why some experiences feel unresolved, and how trauma affects memory. We’ll also introduce EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)—a therapy designed to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories and reduce their emotional impact.
Week six - 18th June: The Hero’s Journey
Have you ever felt a pull toward something bigger, like you’re on the edge of change but unsure what’s next? That’s the Hero’s Journey—a powerful framework that appears in myths, stories, and even our own lives.
In this session, we’ll explore what the Hero’s Journey is, how it shows up in our personal growth, and why understanding it can help us make sense of where we are in life. If you’re feeling the call for something different, this might be the roadmap you’ve been looking for.
Week seven - 25th June: Shadow Work
You may have heard the term shadow work floating around in wellness spaces—but what does it actually mean?
In this session, we’ll break down what shadow work is, how it helps us uncover the hidden parts of ourselves, and why facing our shadows can lead to deeper self-awareness and healing. We’ll also explore whether shadow work is something you need and how to approach it in a way that feels safe and supportive.
Week eight - 2nd July: BONUS - Being Human and Healing
What does it really mean to be human? Why does it feel so hard sometimes? And how can healing help us reconnect with ourselves?
In this bonus session, we’ll explore the messy, beautiful, and complex nature of being human. We’ll talk about what healing truly entails, the challenges that come with it, and how to approach it in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.

It’s completely normal to feel apprehensive about exploring trauma. These sessions may bring things up, so it’s important to approach them with care and self-compassion. You are always in control—you can step away, take a break, or revisit sessions at your own pace if needed.
That said, healing happens when we give ourselves space to reflect, and sometimes the most growth comes from sitting with discomfort in a supportive way. I encourage you to approach this series gently, knowing that you’re not alone, and to take care of yourself throughout the process.
We’ll also be doing some breathing and nervous system regulation as we go. -
I’d recommend having a pen and notebook (or anything you like to take notes with) so you can jot things down or doodle as we go.
Feel free to bring anything that helps you stay comfortable and engaged—fidget toys, blankets, candles, or whatever makes your space feel right for you. Whether you prefer a stimulating setup or a calmer environment, the goal is to make learning work for you.
This isn’t just about listening—I want you to interact with the material in a way that suits your brain!
-
I’d love for you to participate in whatever way feels right for you—engagement helps our brains process and retain information! But there’s no pressure.
You’re welcome to have your camera and mic off, join in via the chat, or simply listen without interacting. Do what feels best for you.
Each session will include slides, engaging discussions, and a Q&A. Plus, I’ll send you the slides afterward to help you absorb and revisit the information at your own pace.
